Missing dog named 'Honey' reunited with owner after being lost for 7 years

The importance of having your pet microchipped has once again been proven as a dog that was missing for seven long years was found and returned to his owner thanks to technology.
Honey was found by City of San Antonio Animal Care Services last week and brought to the shelter. He was scanned for a microchip and Honey's owner was called to let her know her dog would be waiting for her at the shelter.
While Honey was getting his initial shots, the owner arrived at the shelter to reclaim her dog.

"One of our Intake Coordinators walked Honey up to the front to see if the pup would recognize the person reclaiming. The woman burst into tears as soon as she saw him, fell to her knees, and held him in her arms. She began to ask him if he remembered who she was," said Animal Control. "Seeing her reaction, our staff member curiously asked how long Honey had been missing, to which Honey's mom replied "Almost 7 years!"

This emotional reunion was made possible because Honey had been microchipped by her owner years before when he was adopted.
